Country Club Drive Conservatory Addition

Greenville, South Carolina

A Seamless Extension of Home

This project began with a desire to create a new conservatory addition that would look and feel like it had always been part of the home. The goal was to design a light-filled space for morning coffee, plant tending, and year-round enjoyment of the outdoors while maintaining architectural harmony with the original structure.

Matching brick, trim profiles, and rooflines were carefully considered to ensure the addition blended seamlessly with the home’s traditional architecture. Large windows and French doors open the interior to surrounding gardens and patios, creating visual and physical continuity between inside and out.

This custom-designed conservatory exemplifies Kerl Design’s approach to residential architecture that enhances lifestyle and connection to nature.

Designed for Light and Life

The conservatory was oriented to capture soft natural light throughout the day without overheating. Its tall windows and transoms invite sunlight deep into the space, nurturing both people and plants.

A tile floor with radiant heating allows the room to stay comfortable year-round. The space functions as a garden room, a reading nook, and an entertaining area—all anchored by the tranquil presence of light and greenery.

This seamless blend of craftsmanship and comfort reflects Kerl Design’s philosophy that great additions should elevate daily life while honoring the home’s original story.

Craftsmanship and Detail

Each detail reinforces the home’s existing character. Painted millwork, custom casings, and refined finishes provide subtle transitions from the original rooms into the new conservatory. A ceiling fan and operable windows promote ventilation, while integrated shades and screens offer flexible comfort.

The design combines beauty and practicality—elevating a simple idea into a timeless architectural feature that enhances daily living. Every line and finish was selected with care, ensuring the new construction feels as though it has always belonged.

Living with the Seasons

Throughout the year, the conservatory changes personality with the shifting seasons. In spring, it’s filled with blossoms; in winter, it glows with warmth and filtered sunlight.

This addition captures what Kerl Design values most—creating homes that live in harmony with their surroundings and reflect the individuality of the people within them.
